Trimley St Mary Parish Council

Trimley
Train whistles in the Trimley area ( and anywhere really!)
Network rail, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that it is not necessary for trains to sound their horns when approaching the crossings from Thorpe Lane down to Gaymer's Lane.  So, residents, take care when you are crossing the line, at any of the crossings, some of which have limited visibility.  Your parish council, together with other concerned bodies are currently lobbying to get this decision overturned.
New non-emergency number for police in Suffolk
As of October 1, there is an alternative non-emergency number for reporting incidents to the police.  It is  101. There is a charge of 15 pence per call for this service. Ensure that you get an incident number when you report anything to the police.

Welcome to the web site for Trimley St Mary Parish Council
The aim of the site is to keep you informed of the actions taken by the Parish Council in carrying out its duties. We will do this by publishing our minutes, reports, plans and other relevant details.

What do parish councils do?
A typical council has councillors with a wide range of skills. The Clerk provides advice on law and procedure and administrative support and also takes action to implement council decisions and policy.

The job of the council is to represent the interests of the whole community. Discovering the needs of different groups in the community, such as the young and elderly, is an important part of a councillor’s work.  Parish councils can: give views on planning applications and other proposals that affect the parish; undertake projects that benefit local residents; work in partnership with others to benefit the parish; advise relevant authorities of problems or action that is needed; and help the other tiers of local government to engage with, and understand their local communities.
